The story line in this tale is good, but Ms. Browning's grammar often impairs the flow of her work. Simple things, like straying from the narrative tense within a sentence, repeatedly employing run-on sentences, as well as the author's confusion with verbs (lay/lie), prepositions, (at/on/in), and adverbs and conjunctions (then/than) create annoying breaks in the narrative. Likewise, strange punctuation, especially when writing dialog, made me stop many times to try to discern her intent, but unfortunately I never could. This plethora of errors is unconscionable in a work a writer expects others to purchase with their hard-earned cash. I almost feel she should pay her readers for their work in editing her copy.I would give Ms. Browning's work another try because I believe she shows some promise, but only if she resolves her frequent grammar and syntax issues by employing a competent editor prior to her next publication.

A Wedding Necessity A Pride Prejudice Regency Variation Novella edition by Charlotte Browning a Lady JAff Romance eBooks Reviews
The two reviewers who were so hard on this book were out of line. They may be right that the person who wrote it is not from a English speaking country because there were silly errors but not so many of them that you could not read the book with enjoyment. The story was actually very well thought out and well worth the read. Darcy is wonderful and Elizabeth very determined to dislike him and yet little by little they work things out and in a believable way. This book is worth a read if you can over look some words that are wrong because the story is worth it.
It was good, but there were a lot of typos. That made it annoying for me to read.
Very simple story. Darcy compromised Elizabeth by not making her sit in the rain. Darcy loves Elizabeth. Elizabeth hates Darcy. Forced marriage with trip to Scarborough. Elizabeth learns about Wickham and Georgiana and cries to Darcy that she loves him.
This is not the best (nor the worst) book by this author. The new improved version (July 2017) of this work continued to contain spelling errors, missed/incorrect words & modern terminologies that spoilt the overall quality of the writing. The forced marriage variation can be difficult to successfully translate into a tender love story. I would have given this book a 2.5 star rating but rounded up rather than down due to the sweet, clean nature of the book as it truly didn't deserve the lower rating.
The setting for the vast majority of the story was a Darcy-owned property in Yorkshire (Scarborough of all places). It was an angst-free plot (no kidnappings, elopements, blackmail schemes, etc.) that focussed on two people slowly learning about each other & how to live together. Several of the key characters did not behave in accordance with their established P&P personas. In the beginning it was difficult to feel any empathy for Elizabeth given her prickly personality & abrasive attitudes, whereas Darcy was patience & charm personified. Elizabeth's wilful blindness towards Darcy defied belief, even in the face of evidence to the contrary she continued to stubbornly cling to her old grudges & misconceptions. The book concluded quite rapidly with the requisite HEA ending.
One part of the major plot premise of this story appeared quite off kilter, why did the sycophantic Mr Collins insist on an immediate marriage that would destroy all the hopes, desires & plans of his patroness (also why did he continually address Elizabeth without any honorific eg. Cousin, Miss).
Note
After Darcy "blew up all the candles in the room" whilst preparing for bed, I couldn't restrain myself any longer from pointing out some of the absurdities contained in this book. Brunch is a modern concept. Elizabeth was a gentlewoman so she would not make sandwiches at the Inn's breakfast table, she would place an order with the Innkeeper. Pyjama pants were not in vogue as night attire for men until the 1880's, about 70 years after this book was set. In Regency England biscuits, not cookies, would have been consumed alongside a cup of tea. And finally, there is a difference between on & in, I lost count of the number of times 'on' was used instead of 'in' (eg. "... if she had been on Mr Darcy's place...")
Hunsford proposal at its worst. All the unpleasant words that hurt, the accusations, the angry refusal, the unwillingness to listen. Instead of a letter, Darcy was wandering through the park at the same time Elizabeth was wandering the park. When the storm hit, Elizabeth remembered a shed where she could take shelter. Unfortunately, Darcy took shelter in the same shed. The weather being too fierce leave the shelter, they were required to spend the night. The night being cold required Darcy to gather her up into the bed for both their warmth. Before dressing, Mr. Collins enters the cabin. The wedding takes place three days later with not so much of a whimper from Lady Catherine nor a lengthy sermon from Collins. Her family didn't come, her father less than thrilled, her mother aggravated that she married before Jane. Rough going, but things began to change when they reached his estate in Yorkshire. The one thing Darcy would not give up was sleeping in the same bed as Elizabeth although they had not consummated the marriage. As weeks passed, Elizabeth saw a different man than she had expected. After hearing of the perfidy of Wickham's deeds, Elizabeth is astounded by Darcy's love for her. Finally, after weeks in Scarborough in Yorkshire, they begin their married life for better or worse. A HEA comes after Elizabeth finally admits that her Mr. Darcy had loved her for a long time and that she had been blind and prejudiced for his remark . Her mother's remarks to her lack of beauty certainly didn't help her self esteem either and it reflected on her belief about herself and colored his later remarks. There were a couple of times in Darcy and Elizabeth's relationship where the desire to smack some sense into her was fierce.
